Hi friends,

Here is this week’s list of what I’m exploring and thinking about. Feel free to forward this along to friends.

Pants I’m wearing

Lululemon ABC Jogger. These pants come with a steep price tag but are worth the investment. I have a couple of pairs and wear them to work most days. They are lightweight, stylish, and durable, making them well-suited for many occasions.

What I’m reading

Never Finished: Unshackle Your Mind and Win the War Within by David Goggins. David is an ultra-endurance athlete and a retired Navy SEAL. He has completed numerous 100+ mile races and focuses on taking control of the mind. All too often, when things get difficult we default to a feeling of comfort and safety. But we need to remember that we are in control of our minds and how much suffering we can endure in order to achieve our goals.

What I’m listening to

Goals Toolkit: How to Set & Achieve Your Goals on the Huberman Lab Podcast. There are a few key takeaways from this podcast: first, focus on one main goal at a time and set the rest on the back burner. Second, set a loftier goal than you think you can accomplish to spark action. Third, if you’re not motivated to work on your goal on a given day, visualize what it would be like to fail. Lastly, due to our circadian rhythms, we have the most energy at 30 minutes, 3 hours, and 11 hours after waking. Try to plan your focused work on your goals around these times.

Quote of the week

“History isn’t just something that ought to be taught, read, or encouraged only because it will make us better citizens. It will make us a better citizen and it will make us more thoughtful and understanding human beings. It should be taught for the pleasure it provides. The pleasure of history, like art or music or literature, consists in an expansion of the experience of being alive,”

David McCullough

Until next week,
