November 20, 2023: Commonplace books, improving mental health, and daily greens
Hi friends,
Here’s this week’s list of what I’m exploring and thinking about. Feel free to forward this along to friends and family.
What I’m experimenting with
A commonplace book. Commonplace books are a way to store and compile knowledge. They were especially popular during the Renaissance and the nineteenth century. There are many different things that you can write in them, but I’ve been using my commonplace book to write down quotes that I’ve found impactful. I’ve been using a physical journal, but you could also use a note-taking app on your phone.
What I’m watching
Impractical Jokers. No TV show or movie has made me laugh harder than this show. If you haven’t watched it yet, it is about a group of friends who try to humiliate each other in New York City.
What I’m listening to
“Mental Health Toolkit: Tools to Bolster Your Mood & Mental Health” on the Huberman Lab Podcast. Huberman focuses on the “Big 6” core pillars for mood and mental health which include: sleep, light, movement, social connection, nutrition, and stress control. Check out the episode to see how you can take actionable steps toward improving your mental health.
Supplement I’m using
Huel Daily Greens. I’d prefer to get all my minerals and vitamins through minimally processed foods, but I struggle to cover my nutritional needs through food alone. Having a supplement to use on days when I forget to eat the recommended amount of fruits and veggies has been very helpful.
Quote of the week
“No man steps in the same river twice. Because the river has changed, and so has the man.”
Until next week,
Kevin
